Playing WI with the Ruggers

After we spent about 3 hours on Sat. morning at a Barnes and Noble updating the blog, we ended up at Titletown Brewery for some food and drinks before taking off for Door County. This was a nice surprise because it was the first real brewery we visited. By "real" I mean that they made more than just the standard beers, they experimented! We ended up trying several beers and also purchased a growler to drink during the weekend and fill up along our travels whenever another brewery met our high standard of talent and taste... So far the growler has remained empty, though we did come across another worthy brewery in Duluth which I will talk about later. We made it up to Door County just about 4:30pm and pulled in to the beach to meet up with everyone. By the time we got there, everyone was just about to head back to Paul's friend Jake's house, so we didn't get to do any swimming. No worries though, we came back to the beach in the morning and bathed in the lake. This is the first time we bathed, not in a shower, though not the last :)
Anyway, we headed back to Jake's house where they were having a fish boil! Tons of salmon, potatoes, and onions, all boiled
together over a giant fire that they throw diesel into everyone once in a while to have it boil over. The food was amazing and an unexpected surprise! After dinner we played some bocce ball in the yard until it got dark. Then we all gathered by
the fire, talking and drinking into the wee hours of the morning. We slept next to the RV in our van, which was as comfortable as ever. (I know that there may seem to be a hint of sarcasm in my tone
regarding the air mattress and sleeping in the van, however, I assure you, it is truly delightful! And FREE! :) Katie and I woke up before everyone else did, so we took advantage of the nice morning and went for a walk together discussing last nights debauchery and what our plans were for the next couple days. When we got back to the RV, we heard some stirring, so we decided to invade. Rest assured we came in peace, offering up our Racine Danish Cheesecake Kringle which we had bought
on Saturday. After everyone finished the Kringle in about 5 mins, Jay decided to cook up some of the RV's finest cuisine - Hot Pockets! He shoved 8 into the microwave all at once and set the timer for 15 mins. After 3 or 4 more attempts at getting the time right, we each ate a hot pocket, then had to throw the 2 that were still frozen back in the microwave for people to split. Then we said goodbye to our friends and headed for the beach to clean up, then back to the open road. We had an amazing time and are extremely grateful for the good times and hospitality that our friends showed us! It's was a perfect send off to our great adventure.
