Roadside Wisconsin

Ever being easily destracted with our up for anything attitude, we didn't even make it out of Door County before we stopped off at another site. Surprise surprise, it was another brewery, in fact the ONLY brew pub in Door County - Shipwrecked. We sat down and enjoyed the beautiful weather while we sampled beer and shared a meal. We split a black bean burger... This was my first time ever having a burger not made of meat. I agree, it was good and quite tasty, but does not compare to the real thing in any way. After we left Door County, our objective for the day was to drive; and so we did. We made a stop in Green Bay to pick up a postcard for Katie's Dad, then
hit the road, only stopping to take pictures of roadside gimmicks and fill up on cheese and

sausage - a MUST for any Wisconsin traveler. It had been raining on and off all day, eventually producing a thick dense fog which made driving at night even more challenging. Between the fog, the wildlife, and the hilly winding roads, there wasn't many times we were able to break 50 mph. We drove clean across the state, making our final stop to camp at 11pm in Amnicon State Park about 30 miles from Minnesota. The rain never got too bad while driving but was just enough to saturate the wood that we bought from the camp ground... Needless to say, starting a fire was pretty tough. To add to the fun, it was raining on and off as I struggled with the fire.

We needed a fire to cook our pizza puffs for the night, otherwise we would have just thrown in the towel long before even starting. Finally, after about a half hour of work, I got a big enough fire going for us to cook on. We quickly cooked and ate our dinner - keep in mind that by now it was at least midnight - then started to pack up camp as quick as possible; a storm was coming. We scrambled and got everything thrown in the car and no sooner did we zip up the tent when the rain started coming down. Nothing like a close call! The rain lulled us to sleep and we were well rested in the morning for the long day that was to come.
